The Department of Mathematics earlier known as Department of Mathematical Sciences is one of the leading status Department at KU from the establishment of KU in 1991. The Department was within the Department of Natural Sciences from 2007-2017, and it was re-established as The Department of Mathematics since 2018. The Department has started its MPhil and PhD program since 1997, and BSc in Computational Mathematics since 2017. The MPhil program in Mathematics and Statistics in the Department is the first in the country.
Mathematics life in KU is very active. It comprises research activities, discussions, lectures and teachings at many levels. dedicated and strong academic faculties with diverse academic backgrounds involving in various research activities are the characteristic of the department. They are also involved in teaching-learning activities in various disciplines of Engineering and Science programs offering Mathematics courses other than its own program courses.
